Spline Design Hub Inc. is a design-engineering studio based in Tokyo, Japan, founded in March 2015 by designer and design engineer Yusuke Kamiyama.
The studio works across kinetic installations, product design, and research and development with academic institutions, taking on projects that cross the boundaries of conventional disciplines and media. Its core principle is the smooth connection of sensibility and technology. Hardware and software, logic and intuition, structure and experience are often spoken of as opposites, but the studio sees new possibilities precisely beyond that gap. Rather than separating concept, design, and implementation, Spline Design Hub treats them as one continuous process, weaving sensibility and technology together to give shape to value that has not yet been seen.
A recurring theme throughout the studio's work is time, explored as a spatial and kinetic phenomenon. Another is the question of what makes us perceive an artifact as alive—the extraction of "life-likeness" through controlled, intentional movement.
The studio's work has been recognized internationally. It received the Golden A' Design Award in 2023 for the JIZAI ARMS supernumerary robotic limb system, the Red Dot Award in 2024 for Resonance, and the Silver A' Design Award in 2026 for Cadence of the Spiral, a kinetic installation developed with Seiko Watch Corporation. Its works have been exhibited at venues including the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz and the National Communication Museum in Melbourne.

Cadence of the Spiral Kinetic Installation by Yusuke Kamiyama Cadence of the Spiral explores time as something elastic, relational, and alive. A strip of stainless spring steel is shaped into an ever evolving form by thirty mechanical arms moving in subtle, phase shifted rhythms. As the spiral breathes, twists, and reorganizes itself, no two moments are ever the same. Inspired by the mainspring of a mechanical watch, the work reinterprets coiled metal as a vessel of stored energy and temporal flow. Rather than repeating motion, it reveals change through controlled variation, time is not measured but felt.
