Departman ArchitectureDepartman Architecture is an Istanbul-based design studio founded in 2016, working across interior architecture and furniture design. The studio's practice is grounded in the reinterpretation of tradition — drawing references from neoclassical, Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque periods not to reproduce historical styles, but to reassemble familiar elements into new modes of expression. Classicism serves as the studio's core design language: an adaptable framework capable of translating into contemporary scenarios with coherence and spatial depth. Each project is treated as a contextually specific and internally resolved work.
Cremma Kosuyolu Cafe by Departman Architecture Cremma Kosuyolu is a cafe interior located in Istanbul, Turkey. The design occupies an existing brick masonry building and spans four levels. Visitors enter through the historic arched facade and reach the coffee bar, then ascend to a glass-roofed atrium with ornamental ironwork and tropical planting. A lower bar is defined by classical columns and a neon installation, while the upper floor features floor-to-ceiling glazing and sculptural lighting. Corten steel, exposed concrete, stained glass and bespoke joinery link heritage and contemporary design. |
