Sayoko Kitai

Sayoko Kitai is a Japanese wearable art jewelry designer and creator. She creates fully-3D embroidery works using the Double-Sided Embroidery technique, by which the same pattern can be stitched on both sides of an item simultaneously.

Especially, her butterfly and dragonfly brooches’ wing forms can be posed as you like with the wire working technique.

Her works are simultaneously art and jewelry. When going out, you can accent your shoulders, use as finger rings, or otherwise be creative in how to use them—all depending on your outfit and mood of the day. When at home, you can display them in an acrylic case and enjoy expressing your own world.
Brooch by Sayoko Kitai

Butterfly Brooch by Sayoko Kitai This hand-crafted wearable art piece can be worn as an accessory or even displayed at home. Using a novel double-sided 3D embroidery technique, the same pattern was simultaneously stitched on both sides of the piece. Its thin, powdery, and shiny wings could be reproduced with single strands and wires, resulting in a lifelike 3D butterfly with form-changeable wings. The wings were attached firmly to pedestals so they will not easily come off. The genuine gold and platinum threads used are so hard that until now, they have never been used in Japan’s embroidery industry.
