by Spike Lamp by Sini Majuri Spike lamp plays with contrasts. It reflect to punk culture, yet to calm Scandinavian mood. It is a voluminous piece, yet the warm light is focused into a small pointy area under the piece. The Spike lamp has a aggressive appearance because of the metal spikes pointing towards the viewer. At the same time there is something calm about the smoothness of the ceramic surface and warm light. The lamp creates tension in a interior. Like an individual from a subculture. Rainforest Vase by Sini Majuri The Rainforest vases are a mixture of 3D designed shapes and traditional Scandinavian steamstick technique. The hand shaped pieces have extremely thick glass with weightlessly floating splashes of color. The studiomade collection is inspired by the contrasts of nature, and how it creates harmony. Iceberg Sculpture by Sini Majuri Icebergs are interior sculptures. By connecting mountains, it is possible to build mountain ranges, mental landscapes made of glass. The surface of each recycled glass object is unique. Thus, each object has a unique character, a soul. Sculptures are handshaped, signed and numbered in Finland. The main philosophy behind the Iceberg sculptures is to reflect the climate change. Therefore the material used is recycled glass. Icy Cocktail Glass by Sini Majuri Icy is a cocktail glass designed for chilled drinks and layered cocktails. Each piece is mouth blown in a studio in Finland and shaped in a wooden mold. An ancient Venetian technique creates the crackled icy surface, while the form follows modern Scandinavian simplicity. The rim is finished with a flame for a smooth edge. The glass measures 80 mm in diameter and 100 mm in height, which gives a sturdy feel in the hand. Every glass is signed and numbered. The aim is to create durable everyday objects that last for decades. Flow Vase by Sini Majuri Flow is a collection of glass vases inspired by the movement of liquid glass. The collection has three shapes and is offered in blue and purple. Each vessel is mouth blown and shaped by hand, then signed and numbered, so every piece carries its own pattern of color within the glass layers. Heights range from 90 to 250 millimeters. Traditional Finnish glass blowing techniques let the color move freely between the layers. The intent is to bring calm and a play of light and shadow into everyday interiors. Bumpy Vase by Sini Majuri Bumpy is a glass vase designed to hold flowers and to serve as an interior object. The vase is mouth blown and shaped by hand by glass studio craftsmen in Poland. Rough glass shards are placed on the rim, where they act as ornaments and recall the texture of melting ice. A calm Scandinavian color palette gives the vessel a harmonious character. The simple shape suits a windowsill, a side table or a dining table. Bumpy holds a single flower branch and also looks complete when left empty. Cassiopeia Sculpture by Sini Majuri Cassiopeia is a glass sculpture made from recycled and industrial waste glass. The material would otherwise end up in landfill, and instead it is melted and reshaped into a new form. Each piece is mouth blown studio glass, shaped by hand. Rough and organic surfaces reflect Scandinavian aesthetics and light. Every glass dome is slightly illuminated, and the ice like surfaces melt together into a landscape like installation. The sculpture measures 150 by 50 by 30 centimeters. The intent is a poetic interpretation of the contrast between recycled and valuable material. Orinnoro Jar by Sini Majuri Orinnoro is a jar designed for preserving items such as flowers and food. The tall glass object is 65 cm high and is hand shaped in a studio from recycled waste glass. Each jar is blown in a wooden mold, and the color stripes are formed with a modern interpretation of the classic Incalmo glass blowing technique. The rhythm of the glass making process gives every piece a unique color hue. The rough texture of the recycled material is highlighted, and the shadow of the glass shifts with the surrounding light. The design reflects calm Northern aesthetics. Pikku Vase by Sini Majuri Pikku is a small vase made from recycled waste glass. Each vessel is mouth blown, shaped by hand, signed and numbered. The rhythm of the glass making process creates unique splashes of color within the glass layers. The collection is inspired by soap bubbles and by the movement of brush strokes in abstract painting. Each vase is 100 mm tall and is available in pink, blue and purple. When light passes through the glass, the shadow of the vessel reflects the inner play of color. Pikku combines sustainable thinking with Scandinavian design philosophy. Purnu Jar by Sini Majuri Purnu is a glass jar designed for storing food, flowers and other small items. Purnu is hand shaped from mouth blown glass in a studio in Helsinki, Finland. The jar is 20 cm tall and has a simplified form with playful colors that reflect Northern aesthetics. The jar can hold food or flowers, and can also be displayed empty as an interior object. Opening the tall jar and placing items inside takes time and calmness. The design also supports the preservation of traditional glass making craftsmanship. River Vase by Sini Majuri River is a mouth blown glass vase inspired by a blue river in Suonenjoki, Finland. The vessel is 22 centimetres tall and has a simple oval shape. Each piece is studio made and hand shaped in Finland, so the flow of colour within the glass layers is unique. The colour moves across the surface like flowing water. Small soda bubbles at the base react with light. Every vase is signed by hand. The design joins a calm Scandinavian form with Finnish glass blowing to create a timeless and durable everyday object. Infinity Vessel Crown by Sini Majuri Infinity Vessel is a glass crown created as wearable art. Each crown is made to measure, so it fits only the head of one wearer. A 3D scan records the exact shape of the head, and the crown is then formed from mouth-blown glass using traditional methods. Every piece carries its own characteristics. The average size is 25 x 25 x 25 cm. Glass was chosen for its fragility and its strength, and for the way light passes through the material. The crown reflects the individuality of the person who wears it. |
