Sawako is a designer and educator in the domain of computational design. She earned her BA in environmental information from Keio University in Japan and her master’s in architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In her applied research, she investigates the integration of architectural, structural, and environmental knowledge to create unique, efficient designs through computational methods. Her recent projects focus on the Advanced Craft where traditional knowledge of making is re-discovered in light of new technologies.
