Sonia AlinsSonia Alins is a Spanish artist and illustrator. Her creative discourse focuses on discovering her own aesthetic, founded on visual poetry, a strong surrealist personality, and the interest for narrative as ways to reflect her emotions, her fears, her desires and her dreams. Visually, illustration is the protagonist and the center of this creative process.
In 2017, Sonia Alins became the first Spanish woman awarded with an A’ Design Award in Arts, Crafts and Ready-Made Design. Sonia Alins was also shortlisted at the World Illustration Awards 2016, contest organised by The AOI (UK) in partnership with Directory of Illustration (US). Besides, since 1998, Sonia Alins has been working from Alins Illustration Studio, creating illustrations for children books, magazines and educational projects. As a result of her activity, Sonia Alins has been awarded with the Junceda Award twice: in 2011, for the best illustrated children’s book published in Catalonia (with her book “La princesa i el drac”); and, in 2013, for the best educational project created in Catalonia (an audiovisual project about several master artists illustrated by Sonia for Artspire Art Academy in Shanghai). Into the Water Series of artworks by Sonia Alins This series surprises the viewer with a mysterious aquatic environment where expressive figures of great proportions emerge, victims of fate. The artist explores the possibilities of transparency and blur, establishing different levels of perception by bringing depth to the pieces. All of this, thanks to a planned minimalist combination of materials, mainly paper and polypropylene. Thus emerges a suggestive conceptual work with a symbolic and surreal personality. |
