Trained & educated in both engineering & interior design, Jackie climbed his way up, from an interior apprentice to eventually a Design Manager, before starting his own practice. With a strong interest in innovation, Jackie started JIA Studios as a virtualization company in 2008 and subsequently, Copper Design – one of the pioneers in Virtual Reality to enhance the user experience in 2014. As a keen supporter of design, Jackie has also been a guest critic and lecturer in Interior Design Module in Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT).

Ever since, he has gained valuable experiences in retail, commercial and residential, ranging in scale from intimate fit-outs to hotel designs. In addition, he has also assisted several architects and developers in several sectors in Singapore, Malaysia, China and Australia. His vocational expertise and clientele is diverse due to the vast projects categories undertaken. Admired by previous clients, Jackie has also been invited to design hospitality projects in Iskandar & Kota Kinabalu Malaysia. This year, in 2017, Jackie and his team are proud to be involved in the pre-planning of the 2017 National Day Parade held at the Marina Bay Floating Platform and Christmas Wonderland at the end of the year.

In addition, Jackie participated in the “The Evolution & Alliance: the beginning of diversity” exhibition at Wonkwang University LINC Gallery’, South Korea in 2016 and “Museum of Design (MOOD)’ exhibition at Ex-Chiesa di San Francesco at Viale Lorenzo Spallino, Como Italy. His keen interest in exploring cultural & heritage conservation had also brought to life the project named “The Cha Project” which allowed him to work closely with several like-minded enthusiasts to revive the only Chinatown in Kolkata, India.

Jackie’s work and dedication has also been recognized both locally and internationally, evident by the numerous awards presented to him. These include the Promising SME 500 Award, A Design Award, Best of Houzz Award & Singapore Interior Design Award (SIDA).

White Home Residential House by Jackie Lai Inspired by the block-buster Sci-Fi movie 'The Passengers', this unit was well designed with monochromatic white color palette in contour lines in sophisticated fittings. The result was done with refined elegance with amazing visual environment of immersive and experiential experience with the help of technology. Incorporated with Smart Home, wireless lighting system that lets the user to create the right ambiance for every moment. This is the space where space, interior, furniture, media, user interaction and technology were integrated together.

Shop and Home for Homeless by Jackie Lai

Doonya Shop and Home for Homeless by Jackie Lai A self–contained, modular shelter unit that can support a sizable individual or family and requires little maintenance. A completely customisable, sustainable full facility that allows a family unit to be built in just four hours, by as few as four people, using just one allen key! Every unit has a unique GPS number, giving the homeless an address, an identity; an alarm to prevent domestic abuse; a terrace for fresh air and sunlight; a roof garden with solar panel & rain water harvesting.
