Alexander ZhukovskyAlexander Zhukovsky was born in a small Ukrainian town Polonnoe. After attending elementary and secondary school in the north of Russia in Kogalym, he moved to the city of Khanty-Mansiysk, where he studied applied arts and artistic woodcarvings. After graduating the Khanty-Mansiysk College of Art he moved to Yekaterinburg, where he received a master's degree in industrial design at USAAA. Winner of major Russian and international design awards. Lecturer at USAAA and Khanty-Mansiysk Institute of Design.
Participation in ethnographic expeditions to the Extreme North, the study of culture and way of life of the indigenous peoples of the Russian North, the study of applied arts on par with a modern design, interest in both traditional cultural values and the latest technology and futurology - all of it inevitably have been forming individual design concept of Alexander Zhukovsky and his own vision of designing process. "I realized that the design is the art of using experiences of the past to create the experience of the future. It's like a beautiful bridge between the past and the future, which isconsisting of experiences, emotions, feelings, observations, calculations and research in the form of attractive and useful product to facilitate and decorating our daily life". After graduating the USAAA (Ural State Academy of Architecture and Arts, Yekaterinburg, Russia) in 2008, Alexander Zhukovsky founded his own design studio which is working across a wide range of fields, from lighting, furniture and sanitary ware to medical equipment and vehicles. Today Alexander Zhukovsky studio based in St. Petersburg (Russia). It's a small team of designers, united by a common idea and a shared vision of "good design".
